Facilities
Facility
Rochester Childfirst Network is located on just over 4 acres of scenic land in the South Wedge district of the City of Rochester. The South Wedge is a quiet city neighborhood with access to a library, a community playground, Highland Park, the Lily Pond and the Highland Conservatory. The 24,000 sq. ft. facility was recently renovated and expanded in 2003 to meet our growing needs. With the expansion of the center we were able to add two new classrooms, appropriate office space for our Special Education Program, a new Main Entrance with a front office suite and a Community Meeting Room.
- Our building and property are unique in that this building was built to meet the specific needs of the children that we serve.
- The classrooms are spacious and have numerous windows to let in the outside light as well as interior
windows so that the classrooms can be observed from the hallways by parents, staff and visitors. - Each classroom has its own bathroom with age appropriate fixtures including size and height. All classes have a primary and secondary exit in case of emergency.
- Our facility has a full-service kitchen that prepares meals and snacks daily.
Classrooms
Rochester Childfirst Network currently has 10 classrooms that service:
- Toddlers & Pre-School
- Universal Pre-Kindergarten
- Special Education
- School-Age Programs.
These spacious rooms boast a 50+ sq. ft. space allotment for each child enrolled, the licensing standard it 35 sq. ft. per child. Each Toddler, Pre-School, and Kindergarten classroom has its own bathroom located in the room. The School-Age Program has separate boys and girls bathrooms located in an adjacent hallway. All classrooms have exit doors that lead out to their playground areas.
The classrooms contain age appropriate furniture with activity centers, which include: Dramatic Play, Housekeeping, Library, Circle Time Rug, Computers, Table Top Toys for small muscle activities, building blocks for Large Muscle Activities, Arts and Crafts, Science, Sand and Water Tables, Music and Quiet Area. There are permanent individual cubbies/lockers for all children to hang up their coats and store their personal items.
Playgrounds
Rochester Childfirst Network is fortunate to have just over 4 acres of land for its buildings and
grounds. This allows each age group their own age appropriate playground. Each classroom has a door leading out to their playground space. On each play area you will find swings, sandboxs, age-appropriate climbing equipment, water available for sprinklers on hot summer days, and picnic tables for sharing snack, lunch or outdoor projects. The play areas include blacktopped space for ride on toys and "sidewalk" type games. RCN is very proud of the green space we have to offer our children.
