Training Requirements

Family Child Care Providers, Group Family Child Care Providers, and Assistants must complete 30 hours of training every two years that cover 9 categories.

15 hours of training must be completed in the first six months of licensure, registration, or employment in a Child Care Program.

Training must address each of the following categories during each license or registration period.

1. Principles of childhood development

2. Nutrition and health

3. Child day care program development

4. Safety and security procedures

5. Business records maintenance and management

6. Child abuse and maltreatment identification and

7. Statutes and regulations pertaining to child day

8. Statutes and regulations pertaining to child
abuse and maltreatment

9. Identification, diagnosis, and prevention of Shaken
Baby Syndrome

Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals

RCN is partnering with Foodlink and Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters, a national program that works to make sure all kids have the healthy food they need every day.

Cooking Matters empowers families at risk of hunger with the skills, knowledge and confidence to make healthy and affordable meals. Alongside volunteer culinary and nutrition experts, course participants learn to select nutritious and low-cost ingredients, and prepare them in ways that provide the best nourishment possible to their families.

CPR/First Aid/AED

RCN offers the Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/First Aid Course from certified American Red Cross instructors on a regular basis.

The Adult, Child and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants.
