What is Nurturing Communities?

RCN Center City offers Nurturing Communities, a program that works with other community agencies to help break the cycle of poverty.  This program is aimed at mothers of young children who are enrolled in RCN’s Center City early education center and who receive assistance from Monroe County Department of Human Services. Participants are selected because of their interest in being employed as lead teachers in an early childhood environment.  The program supports them as they gain hands on experience and education that enables them to obtain a CDA (Child Development Associate) certificate or pursue a college degree in Early Childhood.  While these mothers work beside RCN employees  caring for the young children at RCN Center City, they also develop stronger bonds and more secure attachment to their own children as they spend their days together in this nurturing environment.

RCN was thrilled to hire successful participants in Nurturing Communities  who enjoy working with young children and that are excited for the opportunity to work in early care and education. If you are interested in learning more about the Nurturing Communities or how to get involved please contact RCN Center City at (585) 397-7660.
