RCN is happy to announce its partnership with the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency (COMIDA) for our Family Child Care Program.

Existing Providers

Existing Family or Group Childcare Application

Application Process

We are grateful to the County of Monroe’s Industrial Development Association for a grant to support both existing and new family/group childcare providers!

This application is for existing family or group childcare providers who would like to request the purchase of child-specific items and/or other products and services to support their business.  A list of eligible expenditures is contained in the body of the application. 

Eligibility

    1. You must be an existing family or group childcare provider who has a license through OCFS or is registered with NYS.
    2. You must be actively providing childcare services to at least one child.
    3. The location of your family or group childcare must be in Monroe County.
    4. Legally exempt providers are not eligible to apply at this time.

Application Timeline

  1. Complete the application linked below. Paper copies are available upon request by emailing FCCProvidergrant@rcn4kids.org.
  2. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and will be reviewed in the order of whih they are received. 
  3. You will be notified via email within 2 weeks of the date your application is received. Requests may be approved in full, part, or denied. 
Transitioning Providers

Legally Exempt or Family Childcare Providers Transitioning to different type of childcare

Application Process

We are grateful to the County of Monroe’s Industrial Development Agency for a grant to support both existing and new family/group childcare providers!

This application is for existing legally exempt/family childcare providers who would like to change the type of childcare provided, or for family/group childcare providers who would like to increase the number of children served. 

Eligibility

  1. You must be:
    • an existing legally exempt provider who plan to transition to a family or group childcare provider - OR
    • A family childcare provider who plan to transition to a group childcare provider.
  2. You must be actively providing childcare services to at least one child through a subsidy.
  3. The location of your childcare must be in Monroe County.
  4. You must possess an updated license or registration number from your OCFS/NYS application.

     

Application Timeline

  1. Complete this application.  Paper copies are available upon request by emailing FCCProvidergrant@rcn4kids.org and include your mailing address.
  2. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and will be reviewed in the order of which they are received.
  3. After your application is reviewed, a home visit will be scheduled by an RCN staff member before final approval is made.
  4. Following approval, please submit formal business estimates for the work associated with your expansion that you have requested in your application to FCCProvidergrant@rcn4kids.org.
New Providers

New Family or Group Childcare Providers Application

Application Process

We are grateful to the County of Monroe’s Industrial Development Agency for a grant to support both existing and new family/group childcare providers!

This application is for new family or group childcare providers who are approved family or group childcare providers, but not currently serving children due to funding needs. Funding for new providers can include but is not limited to:

  • Initial business costs.
  • Hiring staff.
  • Marketing for child enrollment.
  • Materials and equipment. 

Eligibility

  1. You must be a new family or group childcare provider who has obtained a license through OCFS or is registered with NYS.
  2. The location of your family or group childcare must be in Monroe County.
  3. Legally exempt providers are not eligible to apply at this time.
     

Application Timeline

  1. Complete the application linked below.  Paper copies are available upon request by emailing FCCProvidergrant@rcn4kids.org and include your mailing address.
  2. Applications are due on any one of the following dates:
    • December 1, 2023
    • March 1, 2024
    • June 3, 2024
  3. After your application is reviewed, a home visit will be scheduled by an RCN staff member before final approval is made.
  4. Following approval, please submit formal business estimates for the work associated with the request in your application to FCCProvidergrant@rcn4kids.org.
     

FAQs

Who is eligible for financial assistance? 

  • Any new or existing group or family child care provider in Monroe County

What type of support can I receive?

  • You can apply to receive funding for any type of assistance that will help start/support your business. This assistance can look like but is not limited to home improvements centered around accessibility, safety, or child activity, expanding your current site, start up funding for your childcare business, and more. 

How do I get funding from this grant?

  • Please select above if you are a new or existing provider, and click the applicable button to take you to the application. Applicants will be awarded funding designated by a 3rd party COMIDA grant committee. 

Will I definitely get funding if I apply? 

  • We cannot guarantee that every applicant will be awarded funding, or the full amount requested.

What does the application include? 

  • You will be prompted to answer questions such as what you will use funding for, how these funds will support you and your business, what the projected cost of your project may be, etc. 

Do I need to provide any additional documentation? 

  • Any new provider, or existing provider looking to expand their site, will be required to upload supporting documentation that confirms you are a licensed or registered family or group child care provider.

How often is funding awarded? 

  • The COMIDA grant committee will review applications based on the order they are received. 

Can I apply for more than one grant type? 

  • Yes, as long as your business needs fit into multiple grant types.

Can I reapply for a grant more than once? 

  • Applications for those who have already received funding will open in July of 2024 if funding is available. 

Is there a limit to the funding I can request? 

  • We have limited funds available and every effort will be made to meet a reasonable request. Depending on demand, we may need to establish a limit.
